What is SIW?

Social Impact Week (SIW) is our annual carnival-style event, organised with the objective to promote the spirit of social volunteerism.
The platform provides opportunities for changemakers to raise awareness in the students in NTU about various social causes and influence our participants to be more active in giving back to society through engaging activities, such as escape rooms & the internship corner.
SIW also acts as a platform for our changemakers to network and collaborate, proliferating social impact!

HIGHLIGHTS

1. Carnival

Traditionally held in NTU's Canopy K at North Spine, the SIW Carnival features WSC's portfolios, NTU's social impact clubs and participating community service organisations setting up booths with various fun games and activities for the first 2 days of SIW. Visit each booth to learn more about the organisation. Meanwhile, enjoy performances from NTU's performing groups & redeem goodies!

In SIW 2020, over 50 organisations set up booth at SIW!

2. Escape Room

SIW features engaging and educational escape rooms that not only immerse our participants but raise awareness about the social cause that it is tied to in a fun manner. Participants follow a story to solve and crack puzzles in order to complete their objectives in the time given. Prizes are given to the top winners - and best of all? It's free!

In SIW 2021, we held an online escape room where participants had to solve the puzzles to find the mysterious volunteer, "L".

In SIW 2020, we had 2 escape rooms with the theme "Don't forget to say hello...". The two escape rooms are modelled after the movies "A Quiet Place" and "Bird Box" respectively - participants could explore the social causes tied to these escape rooms (hearing loss & visual loss) in a thrilling way.

3. Internship Corner

Aside from booths and activities, SIW provides a platform for organisations to share information about their internship and/or volunteering opportunities. Organisations have the opportunity to hold talks to share what they do & engage NTU students to join them in the journey to be a changemaker.

SOCIAL IMPACT WEEK 2023

Ignite. Inspire. Initiate.

SOCIAL IMPACT WEEK 2021

volunteerism in bytes

"Volunteerism in Bytes" strives to create a platform for students to experience how volunteerism has ventured out of its traditional ways through the use of technology and encourage organizations to adopt a new approach for their operations in this ever-changing environment, especially with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. By showing the importance and resilience of the spirit of volunteerism through the various activities in SIW 2021, we wish to promote civic responsibility and personal growth of individuals, even in times when physical volunteering is not possible.

SOCIAL IMPACT WEEK 2020

IMPACT THROUGH INSPIRATION

Social Impact Week 2020's theme is "Impact Through Inspiration" -  for many social initiatives, the people behind them are often inspired by personal experience, or by seeing others strive for a similar goal, creating a ripple effect. In SIW 2020, we want to focus on cultivating and passing on the spark that motivates a person to serve the community or advocate for change. The activities aim to pass on the spark that inspires people to make an impact for good.

“Selfless giving is the art of living.”

Frederick Lenz

Pass on the spark, give back to the community.
